Second Phase of the CWA’s Pipe Replacement Programme launched

The Central Water Authority (CWA) launched the second phase of the Pipe Replacement Programme, On Wednesday 26 June 2024, in Mahebourg, in the presence of the Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr Hon Mahendranuth Sharma Hurreeram; the Chief Government Whip, Mr Rameswar Doolub; the General Manager of the CWA, Mr Ramprakash Maunthrooa; and other personalities.

It is noted that Phase 2 of the Pipe Replacement Programme started on 25 June 2024 and is expected to last approximately one year. The work involves the installation of necessary pipes, provision of side lays, shifting of approximately 1,100 customers, connection to existing pipes, and temporary reinstatement.

This follows the successful completion of Phase 1, which was executed one and a half months ahead of schedule, with installation, testing, and commissioning completed over 5.3 kilometres, including permanent reinstatement.

A public relations exercise was also conducted to explain to the residents of La Chaux Street the absence of main pipes over the years and the ongoing renewal process.
