On Tuesday 6 January 2026, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Darmarajen Nagalingum, conducted a site visit to Maryse Justin Stadium in Réduit to assess the condition of the infrastructure. His focus was on the running track, as well as the cleaning and painting works needed to improve the overall facility.

In a statement, Minister Nagalingum mentioned that multiple site visits are scheduled across the island to evaluate sports infrastructure as part of the Ministry’s planned activities. He noted that the stadium is frequently used by athletes for training, but the damaged track currently hampers athletic performance.

Reaffirming that enhancing sports infrastructure is a top priority, the Minister explained that a re-evaluation of the scope of work — including cleaning and painting — will be undertaken to make the stadium more welcoming and functional.

He also highlighted the support from the government and potential sponsors for the full rehabilitation of the track, which will require substantial financial resources. Minister Nagalingum recalled recent renovation work at the Mare d’Albert swimming pool, which reopened in November 2025, as an example of the ongoing efforts to upgrade sports facilities.
