On Thursday 18 September 2025, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare officially launched the “Encadrement des Familles” Family Support Programme at the Gokhoola Community Wellness Centre. This innovative initiative aims to promote the well-being and resilience of families across Mauritius.
As the first in a series of community-based programs, the initiative seeks to raise awareness about the vital role of a strong family unit in ensuring the welfare of children. Minister Marie Arianne Navarre-Marie emphasized the family’s importance in fostering affection and contributing to the country’s socioeconomic development.
The programme will offer psychological and therapeutic sessions, counselling services and parental communication support to empower families and enhance their capacity to nurture and guide their children effectively. Acknowledging existing social and economic challenges, the Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting and strengthening family life.
During the launch, attendees were introduced to the Parental Strength Circle programme and a training roadmap was shared to equip trainers with the tools needed to support families in their daily lives.
