During his official visit to Rodrigues, Minister of Information and Communication Technology and Innovation, Dr. The Honorable Avinash Ramtohul, presented the “Blueprint for Mauritius – A Bridge to the Future: Digital Transformation 2025–2029” to the Commissioners and Senior Officers of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA).
This blueprint outlines an ambitious, inclusive and smart roadmap to accelerate digital transformation across Mauritius, including Rodrigues, over the next five years. In his presentation, Dr. Ramtohul highlighted the key strategic pillars and enablers of the national digital agenda: connectivity, digital governance, innovation, artificial intelligence, digital literacy, cybersecurity, data protection and smart infrastructure.
He reaffirmed Rodrigues’s vital role in this vision, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensure all Rodriguan citizens are actively engaged and empowered in the digital journey.
“We are building a digital future where every Rodriguan has access, opportunity and a voice,” declared Dr. Ramtohul. He discussed upcoming projects aimed at deploying smart public services, developing digital skills and promoting local talent and entrepreneurship.
This session initiates a series of consultations with local authorities and stakeholders. Further meetings will be held to incorporate local input and tailor the blueprint to Rodrigues’s specific needs.
The visit highlights the government’s dedication to bridging digital divides, fostering regional growth, and harnessing technology to improve the lives of all citizens.
