The Supreme Court convened a special session on Monday 8 December 2025, to appoint Senior Counsels and Senior Attorneys. A total of 31 practitioners were elevated to these honorary ranks. This initiative involves 19 lawyers appointed as Senior Counsels and 12 Advocates appointed as Senior Attorneys.
The ceremony, presided over by Chief Justice Bibi Rehana Mungly-Gulbul and the Master and Registrar of the Supreme Court, Wendy Rangan, followed the issuance of Letters Patent by the President of the Republic. This official document authorizes these nominations within the legal profession.
The Attorney General, Mr. Gavin Glover, Senior Counsel and the President of the Bar Council, Mr. Anwar Moollan, Senior Counsel, were also present.
