Strengthening Ties: Egypt Plans Cultural Projects in Mauritius

Ms. Abir Alam Eldin, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Mauritius, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Arts and Culture on Thursday 20 March 2025, Mr. Mahendra Gondeea, at the Renganaden Seeneevasen Building in Port-Louis.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Eldin described the discussions as productive and announced plans for an Egyptian film festival to be held in Mauritius in celebration of Africa Day 2025.

The meeting covered various topics of mutual interest, with a strong focus on cultural exchanges. They also explored the potential for organizing art exhibitions. Additionally, the Egyptian Ambassador mentioned that plans are underway to establish an Arab Cultural Centre in Mauritius. A Memorandum of Understanding will be submitted to the relevant authorities soon to formalize these initiatives.
