Children initiated to cricket

A popular sport played as early as the 16th century in south east England, cricket spread to other parts of the world to become prominent in Australasia, Southern Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the West Indies. It’s a favourite sport in Pakistan and the neighbouring countries. Not yet in Mauritius.

Children of various primary schools in their particular school uniforms and sportswear were initiated to this unusual sport here by Mr Abdul Qaddus, Administrative and Finance Attache at Pakistan High Commission. Their excitement and enthusiasm were at their highest during the briefing of the rules and systems of batting and bowling in this bat-and-ball game.

It was on the occasion of the commemorating of Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting at the British High Commission in Floreal on Sunday 18 march 2018. Some 100 children were invited at the function, which, they say, will remain forever memorable.
