Mauritius – China cooperation: Seminar on Leadership and Strategic Management

A five-day seminar on Leadership and Strategic Management is currently being held at the Open University of Mauritius, Forest Side. The event is an initiative of the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Governance of the People’s Republic of China and the Civil Service College, Mauritius.

The Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, Mr Eddy Boissézon, the Director-General of the Civil Service College, Mauritius, Prof Ramesh Durbarry, the Director-General of the Chinese Academy of Governance, Prof Wang Manchuan, and other personalities were present at the launch of the event on Monday morning.

The objectives of the seminar are to develop the required drive, determination and commitment in the leaders in the different Ministries and ensure that there is sustainability, continuous improvement and betterment of the service.

The Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms stated that  50 officers not below the grade of Assistant Permanent Secretary have been chosen to participate in the seminar. They will have the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills so that they can devise strategic plans, develop a critical mind and improve their coaching skills in order to empower team members and manage projects.

Prof Wang Manchuan stated for his part that, as Mauritius and China are pursuing some common goals in public service development, it is beneficial for the two countries to have more bilateral communications and exchanges in public service betterment, besides cooperation in trade and tourism.
