A total of 63 Primary School Educators has been promoted on the basis of merit and experience to Deputy Headmasters (DHMs) while three Deputy Head Teachers (Oriental Languages) have received promotion as Assistant Supervisors (AS). A ceremony was held on Friday 4 November 2022, with the promoted officers at the Lecture Theatre of the MITD House, in Phoenix, to discuss their new roles and responsibilities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mr Youdhisteer Munbodh, congratulated the newly designated DHMs and AS as they take up their new positions. He seized the opportunity to wish them good luck in their endeavours in these managerial roles.
Also present, the Acting Chief Technical Officer of the Ministry, Mr. Ricaud G. Danyel Auckbur, dwelt on the important role of the DHMs in acting as good communicators and educational managers at school. He called upon the promoted officers to show equity and fairness with the teaching and non-teaching staff as well as the students. The need for more resilience so as to adapt to any situation was also highlighted by Mr Auckbur.
Out of the 63 officers promoted to DHMs, 38 are Primary School Educators and 25 are already holding a post of Headmaster in a temporary capacity. The three AS (Oriental Languages) include two in Tamil language and one in Arabic language.
