
The role of the media in combating financial crimes was the central theme of a workshop held on Thursday 17 April 2025, at the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) headquarters in Réduit.
The workshop aimed to equip Mauritian media professionals with a deeper understanding of investigation processes and corruption offenses.
Mr. Richard Rault, Commissioner of the FCC, led the workshop, emphasizing the importance of responsible reporting on financial crimes. He highlighted the need for media outlets to balance their informational role with the integrity of ongoing investigations, avoiding any forms of trial by the press.
Mr. Titrudeo Dawoodarry, the Acting Director-General of the FCC, provided an overview of the FCC’s investigative processes, while Mr. Ibrahim Rossaye, the Acting Chief Communications and Public Relations Officer, discussed the legislative and institutional framework guiding efforts against financial crimes.
